Why Ruth?

Heralded as the "Bible's Greatest Love Story", the Book of Ruth is easily among the most influential and profound books of the Bible.  This, however brief, moment in biblical history lasts just long enough, and leaves a strong enough impression to give hope to all who read it; highlighting the importance of family and showcasing the powerful love that God has for His people.

Ruth teaches us that truly all things are possible when all you have is a bold and uncompromising faith in God. Her struggles teach us that our past and the perceptions of others do not define us, nor can they place any limitation on our lives that we have not first self-imposed. It shows us that even a Moabite woman, with no biological family of historic note, can forever change the course of history, giving birth to the man (Obed), who would father a man (Jesse), whose son would be the only person (David) referred to in the scriptures as one “after God’s own heart”. 

From this same woman, we learn that nothing and no one can change God’s Plan for our lives. We need only to continue in our walk, trusting that at every step, the Lord will raise the ground to meet our feet.
